Lincoln Festival of History 2026

A celebration of history, heritage and craftsmanship in the heart of Lincoln.

The Lincoln Festival of History transforms the city into a living timeline, bringing together historic re-enactors, traditional crafts, performances and immersive experiences across some of Lincoln’s most iconic locations. Throughout the weekend, I focused on documenting the atmosphere, the people and the details that made the event feel truly alive.

The Story Behind The Day

Returning for its third year, the Lincoln Festival of History brought the city’s past back to life across a busy bank holiday weekend. From Lincoln Castle to the grounds surrounding Lincoln Cathedral, visitors were able to experience history through re-enactments, demonstrations and interactive displays spread throughout the city.

One of the most memorable parts of the day was watching traditional trades and historic skills being demonstrated in real time. Stonemasons worked carefully outside the cathedral, performers entertained crowds throughout the streets and traders filled the city with handmade goods inspired by Lincoln’s heritage. The atmosphere felt immersive from start to finish, with something happening around every corner.

For me, the day was about capturing the people, the atmosphere and the small moments that helped bring the festival to life. From historic costumes and live demonstrations to candid interactions between visitors and performers, the event offered a constant mix of character and detail throughout the weekend.
